Global Alcohol Consumption – Food For Thought

Hey Guys,

I yoinked this article from someone on Facebook yesterday (thanks, Ryan!) and thought it was pretty eye-opening.

I had heard a few years ago about a study that had been conducted on the level of happiness found across the globe and the researcher said they found Moldovans to be the most unhappy people which I guess makes a lot of sense since they are the greatest imbibers on the planet.

I did find the following information quite striking “The WHO estimates that alcohol results in 2.5m deaths a year, more than AIDS or tuberculosis. In Russia and its former satellite states one in five male deaths is caused by drink.”  The blurb claims that 30% of alcohol consumed is the homemade, Moonshine, variety which is particularly dangerous.  Really, one in five males deaths due to alcohol is one in five too many.

Finally, isn’t ‘bibulous’ a fantastic word?
